Summary

Under the golden Cornish sun, buried treasure and family secrets will change Emma’s life forever…

Emma loved her life in the seaside village of Silver Cove。 But when the discovery of sunken treasure ignited a feud between her family and that of Luke, her first love, everything fell apart。 Heartbroken and betrayed, she fled。

Now, as she wades into the sparkling surf for the first time in fifteen years, she remembers everything she loved about this beautiful place。 Then a huge wave knocks her off her feet。 Wet and dripping, Emma is rescued by none other than Luke – who is, to her dismay, even more handsome than ever。

As their paths continue to cross, and Emma is reminded of everything she ran away from, she starts to wonder if returning home was a huge mistake。

Or could the real treasure have been waiting here for her all along?

A heart-warming read full of sun, sea, friendship and romance。 Fans of Sarah Morgan and Trisha Ashley will be hooked from the very first page。

This is the first time I've read a book by Phillipa Ashley and it certainly wont be the last time based on this book。 I really enjoyed it。Whilst the main story is Emma and Luke's story, I really liked the secondary story of Ursula and Emma。 As a crafter I also enjoyed reading about the different crafts mentioned in the book。Overall a really good story about love, friendship, recycling and our wildlife。 This is the first time I've read a book by Phillipa Ashley and it certainly wont be the last time based on this book。 I really enjoyed it。Whilst the main story is Emma and Luke's story, I really liked the secondary story of Ursula and Emma。 As a crafter I also enjoyed reading about the different crafts mentioned in the book。Overall a really good story about love, friendship, recycling and our wildlife。 。。。more

Sorry not 5 stars, but took me a good few chapters to get into it, which is rare for me with this author, but it made up for it 2nd half of book。

Thank you to NetGalley, the publishing house and the author for the opportunity to read a complimentary copy of this book in return for a review based upon my honest opinion。This was a cute summer read。 The characters were good and story much like most of these type of books。 I will say the book could have been much shorter, the storyline could’ve been wrapped up quicker sometimes I felt it was a little too detailed。 All in all it was a pretty good book and it was cute。

A light, relaxing romance。A Romeo and Juliet style love story between feuding families。 Freelance artist Emma returns to her Cornish hometown for inspiration, 15 years after leaving behind her childhood love in painful circumstances to pursue her career in London。 The narrator's voice is soothing and she conveys a wide range of accents。 A light, relaxing romance。A Romeo and Juliet style love story between feuding families。 Freelance artist Emma returns to her Cornish hometown for inspiration, 15 years after leaving behind her childhood love in painful circumstances to pursue her career in London。 The narrator's voice is soothing and she conveys a wide range of accents。 。。。more

I have just finished this book, and like with any Phillipa Ashley book, I was sad to leave the setting and characters。One thing that I did notice with this book that I haven't before with this author/publisher。。。 there are lots of grammatical errors which at times effect the flow of the story as words are back to front or incorrect (one instead of on)。 I thought books were proof read? Wow what can I say about this book! I read this in the warm sunshine while sitting in my egg chair in the garden。 I adored A Golden Cornish Summer。 I felt like I was on a nice holiday in Cornwall。 The location was stunning and perfectly captured in the pages。 What I really enjoyed about this book was the historical, family drama linked to treasure。 Emma and Luke had another to over come but add that into the mix and it made for an exciting read。 I enjoyed reading about the history between Emma a Wow what can I say about this book! 4。5 starsA delightful cleanish tale of school romance that goes terribly wrong。 Some awful parents in the past and some gossipy villagers in the present。 It must be 25 years since I heard tourists refered to as emmets。 Emma's an illustrator and Luke runs a Dive school。 His father found the treasure that Emma's father obsessed over。 There's good descriptions of the scenery。 I'm not sure I'm intrigued enough to read the previous books but as this is a new author to me, I might check out those book 4。5 starsA delightful cleanish tale of school romance that goes terribly wrong。 Some awful parents in the past and some gossipy villagers in the present。 It must be 25 years since I heard tourists refered to as emmets。 Emma's an illustrator and Luke runs a Dive school。 His father found the treasure that Emma's father obsessed over。 There's good descriptions of the scenery。 I'm not sure I'm intrigued enough to read the previous books but as this is a new author to me, I might check out those books set on the Isles of Scilly。 I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book。 All thoughts and opinions are my own。 。。。more

Emma has returned to Silver Cove in Cornwall where she spent her formative years of her life。 She has come to stay with friend Maxi to find inspiration for her illustrating work and to grieve for her father。She did not expect it to be easy, but she was not expecting to find her first love, Luke still there, well established and well respected as well as living in the place she once called home。Luke and Emma’s love ran much deeper than their families thought。 However it was their families which p Emma has returned to Silver Cove in Cornwall where she spent her formative years of her life。 She has come to stay with friend Maxi to find inspiration for her illustrating work and to grieve for her father。She did not expect it to be easy, but she was not expecting to find her first love, Luke still there, well established and well respected as well as living in the place she once called home。Luke and Emma’s love ran much deeper than their families thought。 However it was their families which perhaps caused much of their heartache。 Buried treasure, affairs and still some bitter resentments are prevalent some years later。 Perhaps it is just not Luke and Emma who have issues to resolve perhaps their families do as well。Emma decides that once she has completed her work she will again leave, but while there she gets drawn far too much into village life。 Helping the Beachcombers clean up the detritus left by anyone on the beach, means she discovers in more beautiful creatures to draw。 A reluctant friendship starts up with her old teacher Ms Bowen and she learns more about how love can affect your whole life。Wherever she goes it seems Emma’s path will cross with Luke and when events thro them together in a heart stopping moment, it seems that all is not lost。 That is until the past turns up to cause more trouble。A warm and heartfelt novel which has that add mystery of buried treasure and family feuds that you would think you were reading Poldark。 Add to that the backdrop of Cornwall, the golden beaches, the clear blue water, the wonderful sea life around you could be forgiven in thinking you are being swept away on holiday abroad。 I felt like I was。 What I will say is the author has kept it very real and her message about the destruction of the planet due to plastics, to the waste left on our landscapes is very much real。Another warm escapist book from this author。 。。。more

I wasn't sure where to place my star rating for this book。I have enjoyed the other Falford books but this one left me a bit unsatisfied。 I would like to have given it 3。5 stars!I have enjoyed going back to Falford but I found our two main characters irritating。 Never really speaking their minds and thinking about their past but not speaking as adults to each other about things and clearing the air。I enjoyed the story and the idea of finding treasure and warring family feuds but it all seemed to I wasn't sure where to place my star rating for this book。I have enjoyed the other Falford books but this one left me a bit unsatisfied。 I would like to have given it 3。5 stars!I have enjoyed going back to Falford but I found our two main characters irritating。 Never really speaking their minds and thinking about their past but not speaking as adults to each other about things and clearing the air。I enjoyed the story and the idea of finding treasure and warring family feuds but it all seemed to fall a little flat at times。I really do enjoy Phillipa's writing but this just wasn't up to the standards of her previous books and I can't put my finger on why that is。 There was lots of lovely story to read and uncovering about the family's past difficulties。 Emma coming back to her roots and the new things going on in Falford with nods to characters in previous books。 This book can be read as a stand alone tale as you need no knowledge of the previous characters to enjoy this book。Beautifully written in a style that is easy to read, no bad language etc so ideal to give to friends and family or to take on holiday as a delightful escape to the coast of Cornwall。 。。。more
